Cherries Colored with Food Coloring

So like, in times when theres no fruit in the house, I sometimes like to dump fruit from a can into a bowl and put in ice cubes. That way, the syrup thing gets diluted, so it isnt too sweet. So today, I was eating this 'fruit cocktail', which is already an indicator of 'ew', but i wanted to eat something. So, after getting it outta the can, I notice the cherries are really red. So, flipping over the can, I see 'cherries colored with fd&c red #3". uhm. cherries = red. why recolor them? Are they the fake type? >.> It could very well be, cuz this stuff is sweeter than usual >.> blah. Oh well. I still ate a few of them. It looks nice, and it's still edible, I hope xD
